EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - NSC AGRONOMY

The National Sports Center (NSC) is a 600 acre multi-sport complex located in Blaine, MN.  It includes a sports stadium, over 50 full-sized soccer fields, Victory Links Golf Course, a meeting and convention facility, and an eight-sheet ice rink, the Super Rink, which is the largest ice arena in the world.  The NSC has hosted numerous National and World Championship events in soccer, hockey, figure skating, short track speed skating, broomball, rugby, ultimate disc and lacrosse.  The facility welcomes over 3.8 million visitors annually, making it the most-visited sports facility in the state of Minnesota.  Each July, the NSC plays host to Target USA CUP, the largest soccer tournament in the Western Hemisphere.  Victory Links Golf Course annually hosts the 3M Open Qualifier, a PGA Tour event.  In addition, the NSC is home to the Minnesota United FC Training Ground.

Reports To:  Golf Course Superintendent and Head Groundskeeper

Directly Manages:  Maintains all Golf Course and Sports Field Areas

Classification:  Full Time, Seasonal, Non Exempt

Hours:  40 Hours/Week with some Weekends and Overtime

Salary:  $16.00/Hour depending on experience and qualifications along with bonus incentives

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

-Responsible for the daily setup of the golf course and sports fields.

-Responsible for mowing and maintaining high quality turf.

-Assist in irrigation maintenance.

-Assist in marking and painting various sports fields.

-Responsible for mulching, weeding, and pruning landscape beds, shrubs, and trees.

-Responsible for hand trimming.

-Responsible for seeding and sodding projects.

-Responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment and maintenance facility.

-Performs any assigned duty before, during, and after an event.

-Performs related work as required and as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

-Knowledge of golf course and sports field maintenance practices.

-Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the proper use of safety practices.

-Ability to operate various pieces of maintenance equipment.

-Ability to understand and carry out instructions to complete work assignments correctly and efficiently.

-Ability to perform manual labor, including standing, sitting, kneeling, and bending for an extended period of time, under various conditions.

-Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.

-Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and snow.

-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and employees within all departments.

-Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

-Previous experience on a golf course or sports field, but not required.

-Knowledge and safe operation of maintenance equipment or ability to learn.

NSC Business Technology

Business Technology Support Technician

Assignment: Business Technology Department

Reports to: Business Technology Director

Position overview:

As an integral member of the team, this position will provide support encompassing all functions and processes of the technology department. You will be given a unique opportunity to see the wide-ranging impact we have in supporting our unique and exciting organization. You will be exposed to all areas of the business and get an in-depth view of how our different business units operate. The primary focus of this role is assisting the BT Director with the day-to-day operations in the department.

The Business Technology Technician provides excellent end-user support to a campus of approximately 100 employees. This position primarily functions as a level one IT technician and spends the majority of the working day assisting with technological errors and managing company hardware such as computers and cell phones. This position requires strong communication skills, an ability to learn new skills or technology quickly, and motivation to self-initiate and complete tasks without guidance. The Business Technology Technician should have a solid foundational understanding of computers (Windows operating system required, Macintosh preferred), as well as a basic understanding of Microsoft 365/Office products and their associated admin consoles.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Office 365 Admin Portal management
  • Vendor Admin Portal management, ie Verizon, T-Mobile, Konica Minolta
  • Physical Inventory management, ie computers, accessories, tech supplies, etc.
  • Event support, ie team check-in/referee HQ setup of printers, laptops, monitors, etc.
  • Campus AV systems support
  • Level 1 support for all end users
  • Additional responsibilities: Other duties as assigned

Competencies:

  • Detail-oriented approach to daily tasks and ability to multi-task on an assortment of projects
  • Excellent memory and organizational abilities to set priorities and organize workload

  • The ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally through all lines of communication and doing so with a diverse set of individuals
  • Ability to question the process and learn quickly
  • Some evenings and weekend work will be required

Required/desired skills:

  • Trouble shooting capabilities for a variety of devices such as computers, printers, mobile devices, etc. (Primarily Windows 10/11 and iOS.)
  • Knowledge of Windows Server Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Occasional labor to move moderately heavy equipment such as TVs, monitors, POS stations, etc.
  • Strong customer service skills driven across multiple communication lines
  • Project Management: Strong ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects
  • A hunger to learn and grow our business
  • Flexibility and willingness to be adaptive to change and fill in where needed
  • Great attitude — no egos here

Education/Experience:

  • Associate or Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline
  • 1-3 years of technology experience or equivalent education preferred
  • Previous experience in technology support, preferred

NSC Super Rink

The NSC Super Rink is largest ice rink in North America featuring 8 sheets of ice, 4 of which are Olympic sized and the other 4 NHL sized.

The NSC Hospitality is a fast-paced customer facing department with multiple opportunities working outside at the golf course to working in the nice air conditioning of the NSC Super Rink. 

ICE ARENA OPERATIONS ASSISTANT MANAGER

Assignment: National Sports Center Super Rink 

Reports to: Manager of Facility Operations and Manager of Customer Relations  

Supervises: Part time arena staff 

Competencies: The ability to engage and successfully assist with most aspects of the arena operations department 

Boundaries: Authority to manage staff and customers within the department and is expected to use his/her discretion to benefit the MASC, NSCF, and Super Rink 

Duties Include: Arena Operations 

  • Understanding and manage several aspects of arena operations 
  • Assist with arena budget and report budget items to Arena Managers  
  • Assist in staff management:  hire, schedule, and train part-time staff 
  • Assist with implementing all arena operations policies and procedures 
  • Assist all event management – knowledge of each event and needs  
  • Customer service to all ice buyers 
  • Ability to communicate with customers and staff 
  • Ability to create new business 
  • Ability to complete purchase orders for all arena operations 
  • Ability to speak to large groups 
  • Ability to use all current computer programs and software   

Maintenance and Mechanical  

  • Ability to work with the Maintenance Manager for  major/minor mechanical projects and preventative maintenance  
  • Ability to work with outside mechanical companies 
  • Create task list for part time staff  
  • Assist and maintain and review all logs for equipment, fire, OSHA, and air quality, 

Relationships 

  • Create relationships with all ice customers, industry leaders, vendors, and other arena staff 

Additional Duties As Assigned 

  • Other duties may be assigned by the Arena Managers 

Education/Experience: Minimum of two years ice arena operations experience  

Classification: Full-Time (45-50 hours per week) salary position, exempt from FLSA overtime  

Primarily nights and weekends with some opportunity for day time shifts 

Terms of Employment: At will 

Compensation: Based on education and experience, paid bi-weekly
